Houdini returns!

I have learned my lesson first-hand (I know, I know.... I was warned countless times) once those little bodies learn how to move, they don't stop... and it seems their favorite time to practice their speed and mobility is conveniently when watchful eyes are turned (even for 30 seconds!) My little mover was left in front of her morning cartoon Caillou with her toys that she was completely enthralled with (judge away if you must, but 15 minutes keeps her entertained while I get stuff done and I'm not sorry... there's worse stuff she could be watching and its not an all day babysitter). I went to upload new pictures (all of 45 seconds-1 minute at most!) when I heard the unmistakable pitter-patter of her crawling at lightning speed. As I looked down from the table to see what she was getting into, I saw a Jayme-less living room floor (oh crap!)... I look up to hear her chuckling (that "I know I'm doing something wrong, and its hilarious to see mommy's reaction" kinda laugh)... and 10 years off my life, a patch of gray hairs later, I see her at the top of the first stair landing getting ready to stand at the railing! I have never in my life moved so fast around the dining table, over a pile of toys, over the couch and up 7 stairs (you get the mental picture- sorta like the slow-motion Huggies commercial)... After grabbing her, I had to come up with some sort of temporary gate (again... judge if you must, but now we have learned that baby gates are no joke!)
Until we get over to Babies R Us or Home Depot this weekend, this was my ghetto solution (which clearly serves its purpose, minus the fact its an eye sore!)
it even swings open like a fancy gate!
HA! Whatcha gonna do now little bug???!! (you can almost hear the hamster wheel spinning in this picture, trying to find a way over, around, through...)
"seriously mom???"
her classic "disgusted face" directed at me, or my solution to her climbing problem
I hope this determination to succeed continues through life, just not in this mischievous manner

ramming the gate... at least its soft???
giving up after a few minutes of failed attempts
telling me how she feels about this obtrusive blockade
"I've had enough mamarazzi!"

This post cracked me up!! I was laughing so hard! In the picture where she is telling you how she feels... she totally looks like Becca!!
BTW: They sell a gate ... I got it from Amazon that has a latched opening. It would be perfect for the stairs. Then you don't have to take it down every time you want to go up!
Thanks for the giggles!
